Media Days hails start of college football

SAN DIEGO — Here in southern California, the forecast calls for clear, sunny skies. The Mountain West Conference media, coaches and players descend on the Coronado Island Marriott today and Tuesday for its preseason media days, and with everybody 0-0, football forecasts are likely to be sunny, as well. - NFL Football -
BYU has been picked to finish anywhere from second to sixth in various preseason publications. New head coach Bronco Mendenhall has installed a new spread offense and new attitude.Utah dominated the MWC last season and won a BCS bowl, but lost head coach Urban Meyer to Florida and trigger man Alex Smith to the No. 1 spot in the NFL draft. New coach Kyle Whittingham’s first order of business will be to deal with the pressure of following a legendary season. - NFL Football -
The newest member of the MWC, Texas Christian, is in town for its first official conference function.Today’s session will include the release of the All-MWC preseason team, which includes offensive and defensive players of the year. The media votes on this team, as well as the predicted order of finish.Mendenhall will face the conference’s print today. BYU quarterback John Beck and linebacker Cameron Jensen will be interviewed by radio and television media, including a live telecast from the meetings by CSTV from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. MST. The telecast will also be shown on the CSTV Web site. - NFL Football -
On Tuesday, Mendenhall will face the radio and television journalists and Beck and Jensen meet with the print media.The MWC will hold a special session today for discussion on instant replay, which has been adopted for this season.
